The recruiter is an occupational psychologist or a person with similar specializations. In particular, their main role is to conduct an interview with the job applicant. Apart from that, he should get to know the candidate in terms of subjective, personality and motivational  characteristics. However, not only by following rigid patterns, but also keeping control of the situation and obtaining  all the necessary information. 

What Characteristics Should A Good Recruiter Have? 

First of all, anyone can work in the field of recruiting, but it is not always possible to excel. This is because  there are certain qualities that must not be lacking to be defined as a good recruiter:

1. Enthusiasm

Enthusiasm helps to tackle all problems. Especially it’s important when you are looking  for a passive candidate.

2. Curiosity

This is a fundamental trait too. The good talent agent must love challenges and be constantly looking for  new strategies and above all keep up to date.

3. Listening And Patience

These features are crucial as you have to focus on the candidate and listen to his words and nonverbal communication.

4. Creativity And Adaptability

In the recruiting world things change quickly. Therefore  flexibility and the ability to react creatively are very important qualities.

5. Being A Good Recruiter Means Being Tech-Savvy

Knowing about technology is essential or at least having a basic understanding of the main applications and software.

6. Determination

Keep always trying. So be persistent!

A broad general education and above all a knowledge of the company for which candidates  are to be chosen.

9. Social Education

The ability in social relations and education.

10. Eliminating Prejudice As A Good Recruiter

Try to be free of prejudices, so as to be able to choose the perfect candidate in the best possible  way.

11. The Capacity For Self-Criticism As A Good Recruiter

We have therefore understood that a good recruiter must be professional and knowledgeable and  this is important because his role implies the need to know how to relate in the right way with  candidates, never letting himself go with inappropriate behavior.

Moreover, he must always remember that their task is to find the most suitable person to meet the company’s needs. However, do not forget that empathy and good communication are the basis of this profession. So, you have to know how to welcome candidates and put them at ease, but also remember to be clear and  straightforward.

How Does One Become A Good Recruiter?

To become a recruiter you need a university degree, preferably in socio-humanistic disciplines and  psychology. Otherwise you may need a degree in economics to cope with the needs of analysis, cost and budget development. Last, sometimes a postgraduate degree is also required. However, it is always an experience that makes real change skill wise.
